Abuja, Nigeria’s capital will be agog as the women of Rivers state Community are set to roll out the drums for their thanksgiving service and picnic on September 10, 2023 at Mercy Seat Assembly Kubwa by 9am.

According to a statement by the secretary of the Planning Committee, Hon. Mina Horsfall, the Women’s Wing Cordinator, Mrs Stella Yellowe Asika, (both of Kalabari origin) has teamed up with the host, Pastor Nkemji Ubani to put finishing touches to a grand reception in honour of Rivers people.

The get together is a celebration of the members of the group, to create an ample time to network,  socialize and unwind. The picnic and thanksgiving will also witness the presentation of awards to outstanding members. Other activities include; empowerment for widows, skills acquisition focused on trainings on tying of gele, professional make up, fashion & design,making of liquid soap, airfreshners and beauty products.

The Chairperson of the planning Committee, Mrs Nimi Briggs (Kalabari) (Fmr President Kalabari Kobiri Abuja) has hinted that the occasion will be chaired by Mrs Tina Obene Williams, wife of Rtd Gen Obene Williams, while the Co-Chair is Alabota Carol Allison (Fmr President Bonny Association And  Fmr Rivcom Women Cordinator) also expected to grace the occasion is the President of the Rivers Community (RIVCOM) Abuja, Barr Promise Choko (Etche).

Women of Rivers origin residing in Abuja are by this publication, invited to merry and take advantage of the event.
