“Woman Empowerment will unlock greater economic potential in Nigeria” – Entrepreneur, Roseann Munachi

Serial entrepreneur and Philanthropist, Ijegu Munachi Roseann, has called for greater empowerment of women in Nigeria to drive economic growth and development.

In a recent interview with journalists, she emphasized the importance of providing women with greater access to education, training, and economic opportunities.

Speaking on the current state of women’s rights in Nigeria, Munachi who doubles as the founder of an NG O, The Muhna Foundation, lamented the widespread gender inequality, which has resulted in fewer educational and employment opportunities for women.

She pointed out that while women make up 50% of the population, they continue to be underrepresented in many sectors, including business, politics, and education.

As an entrepreneur herself, Munachi has firsthand experience in the challenges facing women in Nigeria, especially those trying to start and run their own businesses. She highlighted the lack of access to capital, legal hurdles, and societal biases as major obstacles that hinder Women’s economic progress.

Despite these challenges, Munachi expressed optimism about the future and urged the government, private sector, and civil society to work together to promote women’s economic empowerment. She called for the adoption of policies and programs that support women’s education and training and provide greater access to capital and business resources.

Munachi also emphasized the importance of changing societal attitudes toward women and ending gender-based violence and discrimination. She urged Nigerian leaders and citizens to recognize the significant contributions that women make to the country’s economic growth and development and to support their efforts to achieve greater equality and empowerment.

“I strongly believe that empowering women is key to unlocking greater economic potential and achieving sustainable development in Nigeria. As an entrepreneur and a woman, I have faced many challenges, but I refuse to be held back by them. I call on all Nigerians to join me in advocating for greater gender equality and women’s empowerment” Munachi said.
